POSTING AND SUBSCRIBING TO PODCAST WEBLOG

wedge Prepare your file for upload
* Grab a copy of your MP3 file from wherever you created it (Audacity, iTunes, digital recorder, etc.) Make sure it is the converted MP3 of your recording and not an uncompressed AIFF or WAV file.
* Verify the name of the file such as Title.username.mp3 does not contain any spaces or illegal characters (%, @, &, /, etc.)
 
wedge Create a post on a podcast weblog
* Open http://blogs.swarthmore.edu/students/ in your browser and navigate to your project's weblog. Log in with your blog username and password.
* On your WordPress dashboard, click the Write link to start a new post. Give it a title (required) and add a description of your podcast in the text box (optional.)
* On the right hand navigation bar, click the link to the appropriate category (if any) for your post.
*Below the text box, click the Upload: Choose File button to attach your MP3 file. Once it has uploaded, click the "Send to Editor" button to add the file to your post.
*Click the Publish button to publish your post.
* You should see your new post listed on the main weblog page and in your category (if appropriate.) The post should include an embedded MP3 player that plays your file. If not, return to Edit or Delete your post and try again.
 
wedge Subscribe to the podcast
wedge iTunes 6 (use on Mac or Win, best with iPod)
* Install iTunes for Mac or Windows (free) http://www.apple.com/itunes.
* Copy the RSS subscription url from your class weblog (http://blogs.swarthmore.edu/students/). In iTunes, choose Advanced > Subscript to Podcast and paste in the feel URL you copied from your podcast weblog
* In the Podcast area of iTunes, click the Update button in the upper right to manually pull any new files for the shows you subscribe to. Click the Settings button in the lower right corner to configure updates every day so you'll automatically get any new podcasts as they become available.
* Sync the podcasts from iTunes to your MP3 player, if desired.
wedge Juice (use on Mac or Win with any MP3 player)
* install Juice for Mac or Windows (free) http://juicereceiver.sourceforge.net/index.php
* click the +Add New Feed button and paste in the podcast URL.
* sync the podcasts from Juice to your MP3 player, if desired.
